Mini moon jar - dotted lines
Mini moon jar - dotted lines
This is a wheel thrown porcelain mini moon jar. It has been decorated by hand using blue underglaze and finished with a clear, glossy glaze. It is made as thin as I dare, making it super light in your hand and translucent beside a light.
The pattern is inspired by the needle holes made when machine sewing, but in this case I often think that it makes them look like sea anenome shells!
These are perfect for a few small stems, or that fallen rose blossom that is too short for a standard vase but too beautiful to throw away. They are also super cute lined up on the shelf, or glowing on their own on a window sill.
The decoration is contemporary abstract patterns, often inspired by mark making in textiles or print making. It is applied entirely by eye, sometimes using a roughly drawn pencil mark as a guide which burns out during the glaze fire. Each piece is thrown from the same amount of clay, but without a gauge so the result is always slightly different. As a result each one is totally unique.
