This is a wheel thrown porcelain tiny moon jar. It has been decorated by hand using blue underglaze and finished with a clear, glossy glaze. The size and shape make it almost pebble-like, it’s tempting to carry it in your pocket for a soothing fondle on the move!

The pattern is inspired by the needle marks of machine sewing, but on this round pots it also makes me think of sea anemones.

These little pots are not really for anything except pleasure. You could perhaps put a tiny flower, like daisy or a buttercup, but my favourite thing to do with them is pop them in a little unexpected corner for a burst of happiness when you see it sitting there.

The decoration is applied entirely by eye, sometimes using a roughly drawn pencil mark as a guide which burns out during the glaze fire. These pieces are thrown off the hump so they vary in size.
